Jacob said this to his Dad, after Church this afternoon,
" I like Church and want to stay there forever."
Today was one of those days were I felt VERY unmotivated to do anything. I get days like that particularly when I am hormonal! I am so so glad I forced myself to be obedient to God and go to Church with the children. I basked in praise to our Lord and filled up with the fellowship of other Christians. Beloved Christians who encourage, love, care and support you in your walk.
As a mum, I set an example, (whether I like it or not) to my kids. If I decide no Church today because mum is feeling lazy, then this is not good! I find myself growing when I am obedient to God even if my flesh says NO!
Ironically, our Bible study this afternoon was on the book of Jonah. Jonah disobeyed God and went the opposite way. Our Church has a Podcast of these studies, so this afternoon I listened to the study of chapter 1. The speaker talked about Jonah's disobedience and how this relates to us. Today I really identified with this point. I wanted to run away from God by not going to Church, burying my head in the sand and thus making the kids suffer by missing out.
1 The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me." 3 But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.
Jonah 1: 1-3 NIV.
God showed me how important it is to be there by the actions of some small children. One by one our little ones all arrived and were so delighted to see each other! Shouts of each others names and some small hugs made my heart melt. These little ones are our future and what a responsibility we have to set a Godly example to them.
