Psalm Saturday

Today is when I share a Psalm that has spoken to me this week. Feel free to do the same!

1 Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
Psalm 127:1 NIV.

I came across this verse while reading the Psalms and it reminded me of how our homes should be God centered. I remember when Colin and I were due to be married, the pastor who was marrying us told us that there should be a third person in our marriage. God. It is the same for our homes also. All things come from this. If we live in a God focused home then our children will be influenced by this. If we love the world and live in a worldly home then this impacts on our kids too.

I posted recently on this topic here.

I am praying and striving to make my home one which is built upon the love of the Lord. I thank God for reminding me about this!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Collette,

Steve and I have rededicated our home and all of our possessions to God. We are simply the tools He chooses to use to accomplish His will.

Thanks for posting this very valuable insight when so many are holding so tight to their material possessions and find them slipping away like water from their hands.

  2. I completely agree that the Lord should be the center of your home and your marriage. Whenever we feel under spiritual attack, praying through our house is key. I also would have never chosen this for myself, but we were given a framed picture of Jesus and it is hung in the center of our home where each time we walk past it we are reminded of who's home we're in.

  3. Yes, everything is much easier when we let the Lord into it, isn't it?

Not only that, but it's a wonderful foundation to build on for our marriage and our families.

  4. Hey Collette,
We strive to keep God first in our home, and lives as well. The girls and I write our memory verses on index cards an place them all over the house. It is fun to see which verses they chose each week. As people enter into our home, they see, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
We enjoy changing the index cards and see who notices first that there is a new verse up.
We will be praying with you that you can keep God first in your home too.
Much Love and prayers, Lori and girls

  5. Isn't it remarkable that when we follow what this Psalm says, our lives are much easier. As soon as we start getting a little "worldly", we get smacked in the face!

  6. Awesome and wonderful word today! I always enjoy stopping in here and getting ministered to.

Warms my heart to see young mothers raising their children in the admonition of the Lord.
