United we stand, divided we fall!

" 4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men." 1 Cor 12 (NIV).

"12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ." 1 Cor 12 (NIV).

Well that's another Camp over! We can't wait until next year, Lord willing. God spoke to everyone in so many ways and the time was really blessed and special. What struck me most was how united our Church has become. Our fellowship is probably quite small in comparison to some Churches, but this does have bonuses. There is a closeness and compassion for each other that you just don't get in the world. Each person has a role to play at Camp; cooks, teachers, leaders, musicians, singers, creative people and caretakers. Watching everyone work as a team made me think of the above verses from 1 Corinthians. Camp allows everyone to discover hidden gifts/talents and to contribute in some way.

Being away together has brought many of the young families in our Church closer together as well. We had 4 young families away this year including ourselves with a total of 8 children among us and one on the way!

There is a real affection among all the couples and the way we are with each others children. The children get on beautifully considering the age range, an almost 5 year old down to 2.5 year olds and babies! I also was encouraged by more experienced women from the Church who are mums and give terrific advice.

The unity we have is precious but by no means perfect. What I am concerned about is that this unity remains and that we don't become divisive. I personally need to make this a prayer point to focus on. God's word speaks about this more eloquently than I can!

"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought." 1 Cor, 1:10 (NIV).

Psalm 133

A song of ascents. Of David.
" 1 How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!
", (NIV).

Thank you Lord for the special time away and help us all to maintain closeness and unity back home.

  1. Big churches & small churches all have their own unique blessings. The fact is, however, that you will be blessed by attending a church and fellowshipping with like-minded believers. Very nice.

So glad your camp was a blessing!!

  2. I am so glad that you had a wonderful time. Our church is a large one and most times I don't know the people seated beside me. That is sad.

  3. Community and family is what it's all about. You just gotta love each other, and let the Lord love through you. Everything else comes out of that. So glad you had an awesome time!

So we'll dig out together today! I have laundry, dishes, bathrooms.....oh yeah, I'll be busy!
