Making your Home sing Monday.

I can't believe it is Monday again already! Today I am joining Nan at Moms the Word for Making your Home sing Monday. If you would like to join in then please click this link.

Where do I start??? That is how I am feeling about my home at the moment! God has given me a lovely roof over my head but I sometimes feel it is all just a bit too much. Several weeks ago I came up with a list of chores to do each day. Guess what? My laziness has overtaken me and the list has fallen by the wayside!

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Proverbs 31:27 NIV.

I just can't seem to get on top of things. No sooner is one room clean and then another needs done. And so it carries on like a vicious circle. God has called mothers to be keepers of their homes ;

1 The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
Proverbs 14:1. NIV.

I do so well with this some weeks but other weeks I am so lazy and demoralised. I blame hormones!!! However, I can't be led by my feelings all the time. The last week I have been caught up in anxious thoughts and worries with a child starting school. I have, to an extent, let these feelings take over. I need to prayerfully put this in perspective.

This week I am going to make my home sing by focusing on the above two verses through prayer. I need to ask God for his strength when I feel the temptation to be plain bone idle creep in. I cannot do things in my own strength.

  3. Great reminder! I often try to do things in my own strength; if only I would realize what I could do if I relied on Him!

  4. Wow! Your honestly is a blessing as many of us struggle to keep things together. These are wonderful verses to put into our hearts. When God's Word gets deep into our hearts, our attitudes and actions will change and be pleasing to Him and a blessing in our homes. You are right, we need His strength, but through Him, we can do all things! Blessings to you today!

  8. I hear ya, girl. I have times where I am on top of everything and times where I am just feeling lazy and don't want to do a thing.

    I don't like it when things pile up and get messy either. But that's what will happen if I don't stay on top of things.

    Having a child start school is definitely an adjustment, so I can see how you were distracted.

    This week you have some focused prayer going on so it should be better. Thank you for joining in today!

  12. I don't want to just step in here and tell you what to do, but I can't hold back these thoughts, so bear with me. Generally when you feel overwhelmed with your "house", it's because you are out of sorts as a "home" (relationships). If I focus on EACH child as an individual instead of lumping them together as "the kids". Pick a child. O.K. What does THIS one need? a hug? a spanking? attention? what? meet the need. Then go to the next one.. etc. Give each child something meaningful to do. Then come up with a schedule that works for everyone. Work time/ play time/ quiet time/ alone time/ interacting time. When kids have too much freedom, they are bickery and unkind. When they know you have a handle on them and the schedule, they are good kids. And yes, you can schedule in "mom time. Hugs.
